The word, 'Sabr'

Like many others I too went to few Hajj training programs before going to Saudi Arabia. In all the sessions, one thing that every organization wanted us to understand is the word 'Sabr'. Its an Urdu word, meaning 'patience'. During the training phase, this word really did not reflect how much important it is. Or rather how much useful it is. But after becoming a Haji, that is the only word that is in my mind.

During the 5 days of Hajj, you may want to sleep. But you can't and you cannot blame anyone. That is when you need 'Sabr'. You walk for countless hours, you can't see the road. All you can see is people in white clothes. Along with the burning heat of the sun. You just want the road to end. That's when you need 'Sabr', and keep moving.

You will loose your temper and start yelling at people, because some one pushed you or walked over your foot. That's when everyone else will make you recollect the word 'Sabr', and you calm down. Next time you become one of those people and calm some one else down. It becomes a chain, where everyone helps others to calm their nerves just by the word, 'Sabr'.

These people can be Indonesian, Indian, Nigerian etc. Absolutely no lingual match except for the word, 'Sabr'. This word became my strength at times when things looked most painful and hopeless.
